Paula Fletcher

Hi!! My name is Paula Fletcher and I’m your new secretary for the Sons of AMVETS, Department of Ohio. I began working for the organization on March 19, 2007. I know many of you will miss Penny (AKA Mom) and I have some huge shoes to fill!!

I retired from state government in December, 2005 and I have an extensive legal and medical background. During my career, I processed federal disability claims and worked with many of the veterans of Ohio following their return from Vietnam. I will never forget some of the stories they brought home with them. I have been fortunate to find a new career where I can, in some capacity, continue to help the veterans and families who deserve support.

Our commander, the officers and I will work hard towards providing efficient service to our members. If there is anything I can do to help make your jobs easier, please contact me at Headquarters in Columbus.

Paula Fletcher

Sons of AMVETS member Donates Kidney
Man donates kidney to friend
By JACK PALMER
palmer@crescent-news.com

When D.J. Batt offered to donate a kidney, Robert Boykin thought his
friend was kidding.
Batt was dead serious.
“Robert is a true friend, and it was an easy decision,” said Batt, who lives in Defiance. “We were fraternity brothers and we’re still brothers. He would have done the same thing for me.”
Batt, 33, met Boykin at the University of Findlay 15 years ago. At first glance, they were the odd couple.
Boykin came from inner city Toledo, Batt from rural Continental. Boykin played football, Batt ran track.

Boykin roots for the New York Yankees and Detroit Pistons. Batt’s teams are the Cleveland Indians and Los Angeles Lakers. Boykin is a staunch University of Michigan fan. Batt is a die-hard Ohio State Buckeye.
Oh yes, one more thing: Boykin is black. Batt is white.
