Beyond the War was founded by veterans and dedicated supporters with a shared mission: to help veterans living with the effects of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) access innovative and alternative treatment options.
We work to remove the barriers that can stand between veterans and the care they need by providing advocacy, treatment connections, transportation assistance, and financial support to help offset the costs of these breakthrough therapies.
Our goal is simple: connect veterans with new possibilities for healing, recovery, and a better quality of life—beyond the war.
Why the Ohio Sons of AMVETS Should "Support Beyond the War" Organization...
Supporting Beyond the War is a natural extension of the Sons of AMVETS Department of Ohio’s commitment to honoring veterans through meaningful action. For veterans struggling with the effects of PTSD and traumatic brain injury (TBI), finding and accessing treatment can be challenging—particularly when cost, transportation, or navigating available options becomes a barrier.
Beyond the War works to bridge those gaps by connecting veterans with alternative and innovative treatment opportunities while providing advocacy, transportation assistance, and financial support to help make those treatments accessible.
By supporting Beyond the War, our Department, Districts, and local Squadrons can turn our commitment to veterans into direct assistance for those seeking a better quality of life. Whether through fundraising, volunteerism, awareness, or partnership, the Sons of AMVETS can help ensure that veterans know they have people standing beside them long after their military service has ended.
Their service did not end when they came home—and neither should our commitment to them.
Ways to Support Beyond the War
Help "Beyond the War"
The Sons of AMVETS Department of Ohio, our Districts, Squadrons, and individual members can make a meaningful difference in the lives of veterans by supporting Beyond the War. Every contribution—whether financial, volunteer-based, or simply helping spread the word—can help connect veterans with opportunities for healing and recovery.
- Make a Direct Donation — Encourage the Department, Districts, Squadrons, and individual members to contribute funds that can help offset treatment, transportation, and other costs for veterans seeking assistance.
- Adopt Beyond the War as a Squadron Project — Squadrons can make Beyond the War an annual or ongoing veterans-service project and dedicate a portion of their charitable activities to supporting its mission.
- Hold a Fundraiser — Organize dinners, raffles, benefit events, golf outings, motorcycle rides, auctions, or other community fundraisers with proceeds benefiting Beyond the War.
- Sponsor a Veteran — Raise funds specifically to help reduce the financial barriers facing a veteran seeking an alternative or innovative treatment opportunity.
- Provide Transportation Assistance — Members and Squadrons can help with transportation needs or raise funds for fuel, mileage, lodging, or other travel-related expenses associated with treatment.
- Partner with AMVETS Family Organizations — Invite AMVETS Posts, Ladies Auxiliary, AMVETS Riders, Junior AMVETS, and other members of the AMVETS family to participate in joint fundraising and awareness efforts.
- Spread the Word — Share information about Beyond the War at Squadron meetings, District meetings, conventions, community events, newsletters, websites, and social media so veterans and their families know that assistance may be available.
- Engage Local Businesses and Community Partners — Ask businesses, civic organizations, and community leaders to sponsor events, contribute resources, or match donations raised by local Squadrons.
- Volunteer — Encourage Sons members to donate their time and talents to fundraising events, outreach activities, transportation efforts, and other areas where Beyond the War needs assistance.
Every Squadron Can Make a Difference
Supporting Beyond the War does not have to begin with a large donation. One fundraiser, one sponsorship, one ride to treatment, one community partnership, or one veteran connected with help can make a difference.
When our Squadrons work together, those individual efforts become a statewide commitment.
They served for us. Now it's our turn to serve for them.

Supporting Beyond the War — Because Our Commitment to Veterans Does Not End When They Come Home
Fellow Sons,
At the heart of the Sons of AMVETS is a promise: to honor the service and sacrifices of America’s veterans and to stand beside them when they need us. Today, I am asking our members, Squadrons, and Districts across Ohio to help us put that promise into action by supporting Beyond the War.
For some veterans, the battle does not end when they return home. The effects of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) can continue long after military service. Beyond the War was created by veterans and supporters to help connect veterans with alternative and innovative treatment opportunities and to help overcome barriers through advocacy, transportation assistance, and financial support.
This is where the Sons of AMVETS can make a difference.
I am asking every District, Squadron, and individual member to consider how you can support this important mission. Hold a fundraiser. Make a donation. Sponsor a veteran. Help with transportation. Share their mission in your community. Sometimes the greatest difference begins with simply making sure a veteran knows that someone is still standing beside him or her.
Our organization was built upon service, family, fellowship, and respect for those who defended our nation. Supporting Beyond the War gives us another opportunity to transform those values into meaningful action.
They served for us. Now it is our opportunity to serve for them.
I ask you to join me in supporting Beyond the War and helping give veterans another path toward healing, hope, and a better tomorrow.
